Cookie policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies this site uses, what each one does, how long it lasts and how you control them. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which explains what happens to the personal data involved.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels, software development kits — do comparable things and are treated the same way here. A first-party cookie is set by this site; a third-party cookie is set by another organisation whose service appears on it. A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser; a persistent cookie stays until it expires or you remove it.
2. The rule we follow
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, we may store or read information on your device without consent only where it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Everything else — analytics, advertising measurement, anything optional — requires your prior consent. So nothing beyond the strictly necessary category is set until you accept it in the banner, and refusing is as easy as accepting.
3. Strictly necessary — no consent required
| Purpose | What it does | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session | Keeps your visit coherent from page to page | First-party | Session |
| Shopping cart | Remembers what you have added so checkout works | First-party | Session to 48 hours |
| Checkout and order | Carries the order through payment and back to the confirmation page | First-party | Session |
| Security | Protects forms and logins against automated abuse and cross-site request forgery | First-party | Session to 12 hours |
| Consent record | Remembers the choice you made in the banner so we do not ask again | First-party | 12 months |
| Logged-in administrators | Keeps the site owner signed in to the dashboard | First-party | Up to 14 days |
Turning these off is not possible without breaking the site, which is why the law does not require consent for them.
4. Analytics — only with your consent
Measures how many people visit, which pages they read, how they arrived and where they leave. We use it to decide what to write and what to fix. Data is aggregated; we do not use it to identify you personally. Typical duration is up to 24 months, and nothing is set until you accept.
5. Advertising measurement — only with your consent
Tells us whether an advertisement led to a visit or an order, and allows the advertising platform to attribute that result. These are third-party cookies set by the platform concerned, typically lasting up to 13 months. Nothing is set until you accept, and where consent mode is supported the platform receives no identifiers at all while consent is withheld.
6. Third parties on this site
Our payment provider sets its own strictly necessary cookies on its hosted checkout pages in order to process your payment securely and to prevent fraud; that processing is governed by its own policy. Our cookie banner sets the consent record cookie described above. We embed no social media widgets and no advertising trackers other than those described in section 5.
7. How to change or withdraw your choice
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer at any time. Withdrawing consent is as straightforward as giving it, and takes effect immediately for anything set afterwards. To remove cookies already stored, use your browser’s privacy settings; every major browser lets you view, delete and block cookies, and offers a private browsing mode. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working.
8. Do Not Track and global privacy signals
There is no common standard for how sites should respond to browser Do Not Track headers, so we do not rely on them. Where your browser sends a recognised global privacy control signal, our consent tool treats it as a refusal of non-essential cookies.
9. Changes
If we add a tool that sets cookies, this policy is updated and, where consent is needed, the banner will ask again before anything is set.
